The Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church's Scholarship Committee is comprised of community professionals, who volunteer their services and energy, to raise funds that will serve as an invaluable foundation for students, who seek financial assistance for their higher education. For the past 6 years, we have awarded thousands of dollars to students for college tuition and other educational programs. Our primary goal is to ensure that students are provided with the resources they need to pursue their academic aspirations. Students who demonstrate their commitment to achieving the highest level of education are continuously funded through our foundation at various support levels.
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)
The Scholarship Committee reorganized in 1999 under the leadership of Rev. Frank Frierson and the late Sister Bobbie Speights. From 1999 - 2003, the Scholarship Committee has awarded over $26,000.00 to deserving high school graduates in their pursuit of a college education. In addition to our semi-annual fund raising cheesecake drives, in 2003 we added the Howard L. Lawson Memorial Golf Classic to our fund raising events. In 2004, our first Mother’s Day Fashion Show and Dinner was held which was a huge success. As our community involvement grows, so does the demands on the Scholarship Committee.
